Figures came out for July 2015 for unemployed claimants which show that 1,212 people in the Isle of Wight area were claiming Job Seekers Allowance (JSA) in July 2015. Unemployment Benefit figures released by the Office for National Statistics show a slight fall of 9 since June 2015, which reported 1,221 JSA claimants, and a considerable decrease of 412 from July 2014 (1,624).
Of this month’s total figure, 825 applicants were male (slightly down 16 on last month, considerably down 276 on this time last year) and 387 were female, (slightly up 7 on last month, considerably down 136 on this time last year).
The percentage rate of persons claiming JSA for the Isle of Wight region in July 2015 was 1.55%, based on 1,212 claimants and population aged 16-64 of 78,100 (Apr 2014-Mar 2015 figure).

The percentage rate of persons claiming JSA for the United Kingdom region in July 2015 was 1.78%, based on 723,980 claimants and population aged 16-64 of 40,649,100 (Apr 2014-Mar 2015 figure).
